My name is Jen, and I am one of the marketing and communications interns here at Learn To Be. I graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a B.S. in Business Administration, and being fresh out of college, I sought to gain experience in the marketing field. Luckily for me, Learn To Be was looking for interns with that exact area of interest. I'd like to take a moment to share some details of the incredible experience that I’ve had with this organization over the past couple of months.

I have had the privilege of working side by side with the team, which allowed me to contribute my talents and gave me the opportunity to learn something new every day. I was able to utilize my event planning experience when I helped plan Learn To Be's 1st Annual Family Fun Day. In addition, my duties included marketing and recruiting new tutors on UC Irvine’s campus as well as at the Walk For Hope Fundraiser, and researching for different projects which I later presented to the staff. Each task was a learning experience for me, and I found myself enjoying it and feeling that my time was well spent.

Through this internship I gained a great sense of how a nonprofit organization is run, which helped me realize that the little things we do can make a big difference. In school I was taught that in order to market a product/service well, one must believe in their product/service. However, I didn’t understand its true meaning until I began working for this organization. Learn To Be gives all children an equal opportunity to be educated, which is a service that I am proud to represent.

Learning, teaching, and service are the core values of this company. These are carried out not only through the advanced technology of the online classrooms and outstanding abilities of its tutors, but also through the passion and drive of the people who make it all possible. I am fortunate to have worked with these individuals who have made such a high impact on others, including myself, and I am excited to watch and hopefully help the organization progress as I know it is destined for great things.

A special thanks goes out to the organization for giving me the opportunity to learn and grow with the company. I will carry all that I have learned with me in my future endeavors.
