The Curious Case of the Missing Cake

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, and little Lily was buzzing with excitement. It was her 6th birthday, and she couldn't wait to blow out the candles on her special cake. But when she walked into the kitchen, her eyes grew wide with disbelief - the cake was gone! Lily's mom looked just as surprised and quickly called the rest of the family to investigate.

The kitchen was a mess, with crumbs and icing scattered all over the counter. Lily's older brother, Tommy, noticed a trail of small footprints leading from the cake stand to the living room. "Aha! I think we have a clue," he exclaimed. The family followed the trail, which led them to the family dog, Buddy, happily licking his paws.

"Buddy, did you eat Lily's birthday cake?" asked Lily's dad sternly. Buddy just wagged his tail, his mouth still covered in chocolate icing. Lily's mom shook her head, "Oh, Buddy, you naughty pup!" The family couldn't help but laugh at the silly dog, even though they were disappointed about the missing cake.

Just then, Lily's little sister, Emma, piped up, "Wait, I think I know where the rest of the cake is!" She led the family to the backyard, where they found the rest of the cake scattered on the grass. "Buddy must have brought it out here to enjoy it all by himself," Emma said, giggling.

The family cleaned up the mess and decided to order a new cake for Lily's birthday celebration. Although they didn't get to enjoy the original cake, they all agreed that the mystery of the stolen birthday cake made the day even more special and memorable.
