Please describe your student and why you qualify for tutoring.
My son has been having trouble with school work and focusing for years. He is in 5th grade and ten years old. Getting to 5th grade has been a struggle for me, his teachers, and mainly, him. I noticed a problem in 1st grade so I pulled him from school and home schooled. He did exceptionally well, as it was one on one and we spent most of our day "at school" 8am-6pm Monday - Friday. Although the hours were long, I found it successful and he was advanced in academics that year.
He decided he was ready to go back to public school in second grade. We were confident in his ability to adapt to the change in his learning environment so I registered him. He has been attending the same school since second grade and his attention span, quality of work, and grades are rapidly declining. His teachers are wonderful and I know they put much effort in his learning experience. We all work closely together in discussing assignments and classroom participation. I am also heavily involved with the school, so we always communicate when necessary.
Over the years, My son has become so hard on himself that it hinders his ability to progress. His father and I are divorced and he is not positively supportive of our sons needs. When completing class work or studying at Dads, his Dad becomes frustrated and has even threatened him for not answering questions correct. Needless to say, im all alone (family side) in encouraging and promoting his success in his education. I no longer send work with him to his fathers because it further weakening my sons drive. It's not productive so I just take it all on myself and there's just not enough time in one day for everything.
He has two younger siblings and by the time I'm finished helping him (it literally takes all evening due to Focus/learning problems) that I have zero time for them. I try so hard to help all of them but I'm becoming an OVERWHELMED mother of three. I want to be there for all of them but being a single mother, that's proving to be a difficult feat. I do not want to fail my children so I am reaching out to get that extra help my son so desperately needs so that he is successful in his schooling. Thank you for your consideration!
