Please describe your student and why you qualify for tutoring.
Keyshawn is an outgoing, talkative 12-year-old who moved from Augusta, GA to Atlanta with his father when he was in the 4th grade. When he got here he had been making all F's and was on a 1st/2nd grad reading level. He was also diagnosed with having ADHD which affects his ability to focus. We've been trying to help catch him up to his current grade level and while he has improved with the help we've given him, he still is lacking the foundation needed to truly excel which we're not able to efficiently help him with that. He's the oldest of three children on his mother's side and the only child on his fathers. He loves attention, gets very excited about school when he's excelling but gets discouraged when it's challenging. I think because of his struggles with school, he doesn't have to most positive outlook. If he could get the help he needs, he'd have more confidence in his abilities to progress and excel which in turn would give him a more positive out look on school and education!
What are your greatest hopes for your student?
That he will have the knowledge and confidence he needs to be successful moving forward, and that he'll have a more positive outlook on school and education to where he looks forward to going to school.
What are you most grateful for?
My family. People, careers, money, etc. come and go but you're family is always there at the end of a hard, long day.
Please describe specifically what your student needs help with.

He has problems answering in-depth questions about what he's read, either he doesn't understand what's being asked or he didn't fully understand what he was reading to begin with.
