Ava Davis was starting the 6th grade at her middle school in Chicago, and she was feeling a bit nervous. She had always struggled with math, and she was worried that she wouldn't be able to keep up with the more advanced lessons.

One day, during her math class, the teacher announced that they would be partnering up for a new project. Ava's heart sank when she saw that her partner was Cam, the smartest student in the class. She was convinced that he would think she was too dumb to work with.
