We ask for a minimum commitment of 2-3 hours per week, but most of our tutors end up doing between 5-10 hours because they find it so rewarding!

Yes, all tutors are required to complete Learn To Be’s New Tutor Onboarding course. Onboarding will walk tutors through Learn To Be’s mission, how to utilize the website and virtual platforms, how to tutor and Learn To Be’s resources. The Onboarding will also show tutors how they can connect with their fellow tutors and Learn To Be staff through Slack.

Yes! Learn To Be's tutoring program is completely online, which means you can tutor from anywhere with a reliable internet connection. Whether you're at home, traveling, or splitting your time between multiple locations, you can continue tutoring as long as you have access to a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone. This flexibility makes it perfect for seniors who enjoy traveling or have seasonal living arrangements.

Currently, our greatest needs are for tutors in elementary-level math and reading skills for student in grades K-8. However, we welcome tutors in all academic subjects including science, history, and language arts. If you have specialized knowledge in areas like chemistry, physics, or foreign languages, these skills are also valuable for students in higher grade levels.

As a tutor with Learn To Be, you have complete flexibility in how many students you work with. Most of our tutors start with just one or two students, meeting once a week for around 60 minutes. This allows you to develop a meaningful relationship and track progress effectively. Once comfortable, many tutors choose to take on an additional students. There's no minimum or maximum requirement - you can adjust your commitment based on your schedule and personal preferences.
