Federal Work Study at Learn To Be

Yes, all tutors are required to complete Learn To Be’s New Tutor On-Boarding course. Onboarding will walk tutors through Learn To Be’s mission, how to utilize the website and virtual platforms, how to tutor and Learn To Be’s resources. The On-Boarding will also show tutors how they can connect with their fellow tutors and Learn To Be staff through Slack.

It is a Federal Work-Study program designed to improve reading and math skills of K-9 students through onsite or virtual tutoring.

You can still volunteer as a tutor with Learn To Be To work with Learn To Be as a part of your Work-Study, connect us with your college's financial aid office, and we can become an option for your school in the future!

The number of students needed varies depending on how many hours a Federal Work Study recipient needs. It can also change based on how many tutoring sessions occur each week and their duration. Typically, sessions range from 60 to 90 minutes. We recommend starting with two students, but you can always pick up more students to reach your required hours.
