Charis was a shy girl who didn't like to read. She felt embarrassed when the teacher called on her and she had to read out loud in front of the class. Charis wished she could just disappear!
One day, Charis's teacher, Mrs. Jones, noticed how Charis always tried to hide during reading time. Mrs. Jones decided to do something to help Charis feel more confident.
Mrs. Jones asked Charis to stay after class. "Charis, I've noticed you don't seem to enjoy reading. Is there something I can do to help you feel better about it?" Charis explained that she was too shy to read in front of everyone.
Mrs. Jones had an idea. "What if you and I read together, just the two of us? That way, you can practice reading without feeling embarrassed." Charis thought about it and agreed to try.
Every day after class, Charis and Mrs. Jones would read together. Slowly, Charis started to feel more comfortable with reading. She even began to enjoy it! Charis started to raise her hand in class, eager to read out loud.
By the end of the year, Charis was reading better than ever before. She was no longer shy or embarrassed about reading. Charis felt proud of herself and thankful to Mrs. Jones for helping her overcome her fears.
