Charis was a curious girl who loved to learn. She came to school excited to read her first book, but when she tried, the words seemed to jumble together.
"I can't do it!" Charis said, feeling discouraged. Her teacher, Mrs. Williams, smiled and said, "Don't worry, Charis. Reading takes practice. Let's sound out the words together."
Charis and Mrs. Williams started slow, breaking down the words into smaller sounds. With each try, Charis felt more confident. "I'm doing it!" she exclaimed.
Soon, Charis was reading simple books all by herself. She would sound out each word carefully, feeling proud when she got it right.
One day, Charis found a book she really wanted to read. It had big words she hadn't seen before. "I can't do this one," she told Mrs. Williams.
"Yes, you can!" Mrs. Williams encouraged. "Just take it step by step." Charis took a deep breath and started sounding out the words. It was hard, but she kept trying.
Slowly, Charis made her way through the book. When she reached the end, she looked up with a big smile. "I did it!" she said.
From that day on, Charis knew she could read anything if she just kept trying. She became the best reader in her class, all because she didn't give up.
