The Curious Case of the Missing Homework

It was a sunny Tuesday morning when Emily, a curious third-grader, noticed that her best friend, Liam, looked worried. "What's wrong, Liam?" she asked, concerned.

Liam sighed and explained that he couldn't find his homework from the night before. "I remember doing it, but when I went to get it this morning, it was gone! Now I'm going to get in trouble with Mrs. Johnson," he said, his voice trembling.

Emily knew she had to help her friend. "Don't worry, Liam. We'll figure this out. Let's retrace your steps and see if we can find your missing homework," she said, determined to solve the mystery.

Together, they searched Liam's backpack, his desk, and even under his bed, but the homework was nowhere to be found. Just as they were about to give up, Emily noticed a small piece of paper sticking out from under the kitchen table.

To Emily's surprise, the "missing" homework was there, with a note attached: "Liam, I'm sorry I took your homework by mistake. I needed some paper to draw on. Please forgive me. Your little sister, Lily."

Liam was relieved and grateful to Emily for her help. The two friends learned an important lesson that day: communication and teamwork are the keys to solving any problem, no matter how big or small.
