Tommy saw kids playing soccer at the park. He wanted to play too, but he didn't know how. Tommy felt nervous and shy.
A girl named Maya came over and smiled. "Do you want to learn?" she asked kindly. Tommy nodded yes.
Maya showed Tommy how to kick the ball. "Use the side of your foot," she said. Tommy tried and the ball rolled forward.
They practiced together every day after school. Tommy got better and better at kicking. His feet felt stronger.
One sunny Saturday, there was a big game. Tommy's team wore red shirts. He felt butterflies in his belly.
The game started and Tommy ran hard. He kicked the ball toward the goal. His teammates cheered him on.
Tommy didn't score, but he tried his best. He passed the ball to Maya. She kicked it in and scored!
Everyone on the team jumped and cheered. Tommy felt so happy and proud. He high-fived Maya and his friends.
After the game, coach gave them all medals. Tommy looked at his shiny medal. He worked hard and it paid off.
Tommy walked home smiling big. He loved playing soccer with his friends. Tomorrow they would play again!
