Fatima was excited for the first day of fifth grade at River Elementary School. She had heard that their class would be getting a new pet and couldn't wait to see what it would be. When she arrived, her teacher, Ms. Joseph-Haynes, gathered the students together.

"Good morning, class! I have a special announcement to make. This year, we are going to have a new class pet." The students cheered excitedly. "Now, I want you all to meet our new friend, Cynni the Chameleon!" Ms. Joseph-Haynes brought out a small, colorful lizard in a tank.

Fatima and her classmates gathered around, amazed by the chameleon's ability to change colors. Kayla, who loved animals, immediately volunteered to be in charge of caring for Cynni. The class spent the next few weeks learning all about chameleons and how to properly take care of them.

One day, Cynni escaped from his tank! The students searched high and low, but couldn't find him anywhere. Suddenly, Liam spotted a green tail sticking out from under a bookshelf. They gently coaxed Cynni out and were relieved to see he was unharmed. From that day on, the class was extra careful to make sure Cynni's tank was securely closed.

Fatima and her classmates enjoyed having Cynni as their class pet. They loved watching him change colors and seeing how he reacted to different stimuli. Cynni became a beloved part of their fifth-grade experience, teaching them all about the wonders of the natural world.
