Emmy was excited for her first day of first grade. She had on her favorite pink backpack and her hair was neatly braided. As she walked into the classroom, she saw all the other students playing and talking. But there was one student sitting by himself in the corner.

Emmy went over and introduced herself. "Hi, my name is Emmy. What's your name?" The boy looked up and said, "My name is Jack. I'm new here." Emmy could tell he seemed a little shy. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Jack. Would you like to play with me and my friends?" Jack nodded and smiled, happy to have someone be so kind to him on his first day.

The two of them had a great day playing games and making new friends together. Emmy made sure Jack felt included and comfortable. By the end of the day, Jack was laughing and smiling, no longer feeling lonely. Emmy was glad she had made a new friend.
