The Mysterious Missing Lunchbox

Janelle couldn't wait for her class trip to the museum. She had been looking forward to it all week. As she grabbed her lunchbox and headed out the door, she didn't realize the adventure that was about to unfold.

When Janelle arrived at school, she couldn't find her lunchbox anywhere. She searched her backpack, her cubby, and even asked her friends if they had seen it, but it was nowhere to be found.

"Oh no, what am I going to do?" Janelle fretted. "I'm so hungry and I don't have anything to eat for lunch."

Just then, Janelle's teacher, Mrs. Wilkins, approached her. "Janelle, is everything okay?" she asked. Janelle explained the situation, and Mrs. Wilkins promised to help her figure it out.

Together, they retraced Janelle's steps from the moment she left home. They searched high and low, but the lunchbox remained a mystery. Janelle was starting to feel worried that she wouldn't be able to go on the field trip at all.

Just as they were about to give up, Janelle noticed a small piece of paper sticking out of her backpack. She pulled it out and read the note: "Dear Janelle, I borrowed your lunchbox. I'll return it after the field trip. Enjoy your day! Your friend, Samantha."

Janelle couldn't believe it. Samantha, her best friend, had taken the lunchbox by mistake. Relieved, Janelle and Mrs. Wilkins headed to the museum, where Janelle had a wonderful time exploring the exhibits and learning new things.

When they returned to school, Samantha apologized and returned the lunchbox. Janelle was just happy to have it back and to have such a thoughtful friend. From that day on, Janelle always made sure to double-check her belongings before leaving for school.
