It was a sunny afternoon at Maple Elementary School, and Monroe couldn't wait for the final bell to ring. Today was his tenth birthday, and he had big plans for a surprise party with his best friends, Jack and Cody, after school.
As the clock struck 3 pm, Monroe raced out of his classroom, eager to share the exciting news. He found Jack and Cody waiting by the bike racks, and with a big grin, he told them about his special day.
"A birthday party? That's awesome!" exclaimed Cody. "We've got to plan something really fun for you!"
The three friends huddled together, brainstorming ideas for the perfect celebration. They decided on a picnic in the park, complete with a homemade birthday cake, games, and lots of laughter.
After school, Monroe's parents met the group at the park, carrying a large box wrapped in shiny paper. "Happy birthday, Monroe!" they said, handing him the present. With excitement, Monroe tore open the wrapping and found a brand-new skateboard inside.
"Wow, this is the best birthday ever!" he exclaimed, giving his parents a big hug. The group spent the afternoon playing on the swings, chasing each other through the grass, and enjoying the delicious chocolate cake that Cody's mom had baked.
As the sun began to set, the friends reluctantly said their goodbyes, promising to meet up again soon. Monroe felt so grateful for his amazing friends and family, and he couldn't wait to see what adventures the next year would bring.
