Monroe, a curious fourth-grader, woke up one morning to find that his prized dollar coin had vanished. He immediately enlisted the help of his best friends, Brewster and Dan, to solve the mystery.
"Someone must have taken it," Monroe declared, pacing around his room. "We need to investigate and find out who the culprit is!"
The trio began their investigation, scouring Monroe's room for any clues. They looked under the bed, in the closet, and even checked the pockets of Monroe's clothes, but the dollar coin was nowhere to be found.
"This is so strange," Brewster said, scratching his head. "Who would want to steal your dollar coin?"
"I don't know, but we have to figure it out," Monroe replied, determined to get to the bottom of the mystery.
As they continued their search, they noticed that Brewster's backpack seemed a little heavier than usual. Curious, they opened it and were shocked to find the missing dollar coin inside.
"Brewster, what is this?" Dan exclaimed, holding up the coin. "Did you take it?"
Brewster's eyes went wide, and he stammered, "I-I didn't mean to! I was just borrowing it to buy a snack from the vending machine, but I forgot to put it back."
Monroe and Dan looked at each other, relieved that the mystery was solved, but also a little disappointed that their friend had taken the coin without asking.
"Brewster, you know you should have asked first," Monroe said, shaking his head. "But I'm glad we were able to find it."
The three friends promised to be more honest and communicate better in the future, and they all agreed that the missing dollar coin adventure had been quite the mystery to solve.
