It was a sunny day in Kindergarten Land when Lily, a curious little girl, noticed that her favorite cookies had disappeared from her lunchbox. She looked around the classroom, but none of her classmates seemed to have taken them.
"Who could have taken my cookies?" Lily wondered. She decided to investigate the mystery. First, she asked her teacher, Mrs. Smith, if she had seen anything. Mrs. Smith shook her head and said she hadn't noticed anything unusual.
Lily then went around the classroom, asking each of her friends if they had seen her cookies. No one seemed to know what had happened to them. Lily was starting to feel frustrated, but she wasn't going to give up that easily.
Just then, Lily noticed a trail of crumbs leading out of the classroom and down the hallway. "Aha!" she exclaimed. "I've got a clue!" Lily followed the trail, which led her to the school's cafeteria.
In the cafeteria, Lily found her friend, Sammy, happily munching on the missing cookies. "Sammy!" Lily cried. "Did you take my cookies?"
Sammy looked up, his mouth full of cookie crumbs. "I'm sorry, Lily," he said. "I was so hungry, and they looked so delicious. I couldn't resist!"
Lily sighed, but she couldn't stay mad at Sammy. She knew he was just a growing boy who loved cookies, just like she did. The two friends shared the remaining cookies and promised to be more careful with their snacks in the future.
