The Mysterious Case of the Missing Pencil

It was a sunny Tuesday morning at Oakwood Elementary School. Sarah, a curious third-grader, was getting ready for her math class when she realized her favorite pencil was missing. She searched through her desk, her backpack, and even under the table, but the pencil was nowhere to be found.

Determined to solve the mystery, Sarah asked her best friend, Tom, if he had seen her pencil. Tom shook his head, just as puzzled as Sarah. The two friends decided to investigate the case of the missing pencil together.

They started by questioning their classmates, but no one seemed to know anything about the missing pencil. Sarah and Tom even asked their teacher, Ms. Johnson, if she had seen it, but she was just as baffled as they were.

As the day went on, the two sleuths continued to search every nook and cranny of the classroom, looking for any clues that might lead them to the pencil's whereabouts. Just when they were about to give up, Sarah noticed something unusual under her desk: a small piece of paper with a mysterious message written on it.

The message read, "Look in the lost and found!" Excited by this new lead, Sarah and Tom rushed to the school's lost and found box and, to their delight, found Sarah's pencil sitting there.
