It was a typical morning for Hally, a bubbly kindergartener who loved school. But this morning, something was different. As Hally's alarm blared, she rolled over in bed, her mouth still full of the toast and apple slices she had been enjoying for breakfast. "Oh no!" she cried, realizing she was running late.
Hally hurriedly brushed her teeth, got dressed, and grabbed her backpack, but she could feel the clock ticking. She dashed out the door, toast crumbs still clinging to her lips. Hally raced down the sidewalk, her sneakers pounding the pavement. "I'm going to be late!" she worried, her stomach doing somersaults.
When Hally finally reached the school gates, the bell had already rung. Her teacher, Mrs. Johnson, greeted her with a warm smile. "Good morning, Hally. I'm glad you made it," she said. Hally sheepishly explained that she had been running a little behind due to her delicious breakfast. Mrs. Johnson chuckled and ushered Hally inside, reminding her to be on time tomorrow.
As Hally settled into her seat, she couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed. But her classmates just giggled and asked if she had saved them any of her breakfast. Hally laughed and promised to bring extra toast the next day. From that day on, Hally made sure to wake up a little earlier, so she wouldn't be tardy again - even if it meant skipping her favorite part of the morning, the breakfast bliss.
